I was diagnosed with hemmriods when I was 15 and ever since then I would sometimes have a little blood on toilet paper after I used the bathroom, not often but sometimes. I never really thought about it bc i know it is a symptom of hemmriods. My BMs have never really been normal since i can remember. they are always different sizes and shapes and I am often constipated, but sometimes if i eat a lot or drink caffeine a get diarrhea. In addition, I sometimes have mucus on the toilet paper or stool after I go, but this is usually associated with my constipation. I am 24 years old, and I concerned this could be cancer. This all has been going on for so long i feel like if I have cancer it will be too late and I am really scared. I guess because my BMs have never been normal I never knew they were abnormal til recently. Also, the blood on toilet paper has been going on for years. It’s never a lot, and it never keeps bleeding after I go. The whole mucus thing has really freaked me out even more. I am not really sure when it started happening.

Oh...my thyroid yo yos from normal to hypothyroid ...i know hypo can cause constipation. Thanks

I have had the same situation as you for most of my life, and have had bowel X-Rays, colonoscopies etc., over the years, being convinced I had cancer. I am telling you this because I am now more than twice your age and still have not contracted cancer in either the bowel or colon. So, these difficulties can be just the way we are, and not a symptom of disease. If you are worried get yourself checked out. Then when the doctors say you are fine you can stop worrying. I always got checked out because I would be frantic with worry and that was the only way I could cope. Chances are you are worrying for nothing the same as me. But make sure and then just let it go. Good luck!
