Q: Hemangiomas
asked by: DoctorQuestion on July 30th, 2008
Got a CT scan to find out cause of stomachache while in clinical trial. No cause found, but hemangioma of the liver revealed. The written results suggest "tagged red-blood cell nuclear test." "Doctor A" says hemangioma is common in most people. It doesn't disqualify me as a test subject for other studies. And "nuclear test" is not needed. Months later in a different facility, I was found to have an "abdominal bruit." "Doctor B" says it could be aneurysm and only if I had a CT scan can it be known if it is. I showed "Dr. B" the CT results of months back. He said that the results show nothing wrong with the aorta but the hemangioma may be fatal and that I should have had the nuclear test. The test is done. Finding: "benign." In another study, Im answering a questionaire; Do I have liver disease? I ask recruiter if benign hemangioma can be classified as liver disease? She's unsure. I ask my own doctor who says he dosnt know.
Is it "liver disease?"

Liver Disorders, Hepatitis A,B,C Answer A4497
Current medical status: hemangioma of liver described as "benign"
Current medical treatment: no " treatment. " it was only found out by CT scan and by "tagged red-blood cell nuclear test"

A hemangioma is a benign tumor that is created from many small blood vessels. A hemangioma as a tumor type can’t be classified as an exclusive “liver disease” because it can be located in any organ in the body. But since your hemangioma is located on your liver we can say that you have a liver disease. Hemangioma in the liver can cause problems only if it starts to bleed.
