Hi Everyone,

I've been feeling pretty low for a few weeks now, and I want to see if maybe its depression.

I found this on the NHS website. I'll put a mark next to all the ones I think I have. Can someone give me some advice.

If you’re depressed you often lose interest in things that you used to enjoy. Depression commonly interferes with your work, social and family life. In addition, there are many other symptoms, which can be physical, psychological and social.

Psychological symptoms:

X continuous low mood or sadness,
X feelings of hopelessness and helplessness,
X low self-esteem,
X tearfulness,
X feelings of guilt,
X feeling irritable and intolerant of others,
X lack of motivation and little interest in things,
X difficulty making decisions,
X lack of enjoyment,
suicidal thoughts or thoughts of harming someone else,
X feeling anxious or worried, and
reduced sex drive.

Physical symptoms:

slowed movement or speech,
X change in appetite or weight (usually decreased, but sometimes increased),
constipation,
X unexplained aches and pains,
X lack of energy or lack of interest in sex,
X changes to the menstrual cycle, and
X disturbed sleep patterns (for example, problems going to sleep or waking in the early hours of the morning).

Social symptoms:

not performing well at work,
X taking part in fewer social activities and avoiding contact with friends,
X reduced hobbies and interests, and
X difficulties in home and family life.

I constantly feel rubbish about myself. I hate the way I look and I'm so paranoid.

Any help would be really appreciated Smile

ive been dealing with depression almost my whole life due to some kind of abuse, so i know how you feel. i never believed in therapists but my depression had gotten so bad i felt like i had no choice.
that's my advice to you! are you able to see a therapist, and get on medication?
do you think you just need someone to talk to?
usually if you feel this way for months and you feel like you cant pull yourself out of it, you should see someone.
my response to you is what are your problems that makes you so depressed.
