Q: Help w/caring for baby kitten

We found 2 kittens on Sat. It was raining and cold that day. They are only a few weeks old…not even close to being weaned. They were each in a separate bush about 3 ft apart. They were wet and muddy, like they went through a ditch or something. There are wild cats on our corner so they could be anyone’s. We couldn’t leave them out there though. Some of the wild ones came to our door while she was crying but they just hiss

Well I’m not having the easiest time feeding her. I’m actually using one of Adam’s old bottles. I cut a bigger hole in the nipple so the milk sort of drips out. The kitten will eat like that but for only a few minutes. I’m not sure if she stops because she’s full or just gives up. It’s hard to tell. And I was wondering if there is anything I should be feeding her. I’m just using 2% warm milk right now.

I have had lots of cats but they were all weaned. Any advice would be great! Thanks!

awww poor things Sad I'm not sure what to tell ya as far as feeding them. The milk should be good for now, I think if you have a local pet store they should carry bottles and milk similar to that of mother cats that you could give them? Let me know how they're doing.

Well the baby I have turns out to be a boy…lol. My brother has no fear and felt his lil nuts…lol. So we ended up with the boy..yeah!
He is doing much better. He now thinks im his mommy. Yesterday I had 2 babies in my arms feeding…lol. Adam in one arm and the kittie curled up in my neck.
It was sweet. She eats only little bits at a time. She doesn’t seem to like the lil medicine dropper or nipple very much. I will have to stop at Petsmart after work, I hear they have kits w/bottles and formula. I really don’t want him to pass away. He is so young and just know without good care it could happen. Its way to soon to be away from his momma. But now he thinks im his momma…its too cute. Yesterday he walked around searching for me. I knew he was hungry. Then he went back to bed and in a couple hours did it again..lol.

caring for baby kittens
I cared for 2 kittens 5 years ago that didn't even have their eyes opened yet. Our local pet store has bottles and kitten formula. I bought 2 bottles and a can of powder mix. They will get loud when hungry. Also, you need to stimulate them to use the litterbox. After you feed them, take a warm moist cottonball and rub in one direction gently on their privates, then set them in the litterbox. Usually the mother would lick them to stimulate them so you need to do that for them, unless they are alreay doing it on their own. Good luck!

Also, the pet store told us not to feed the kittens milk. I guess it causes diarreah (SP?) in kittens so you might want to watch for that. We always gave our cats milk when I was a kid and don"t remember anything happening but I guess kittens can't digest it well. My kittens used to lay on my shoulder under my hair and sleep. I had also just had a baby so I would be feeding the baby and the kittens would climb up and nuzzle my neck and ear. They would actually try to nurse on my ear lobe!!! It was too cute. You will find that this kitten will be like another kid for you! How sweet!
