Help getting to sleep
Posted: 05-05-08 11:47am

Im am really sick of these stupid "just lie thereand relax, listen to some soothing music, drink some nice warm milk" etc. Answers when ppl ask how can they get to sleep.

Does anyone know of any drugs or anything around the house that can get you to sleep, I need something that works,, not some lame answer please.

Ive tried just drinking but ended up staying more awake (shitty cheap wine, need some real grog I think).

Is there anything stupid in my herb cuboard or something I can smoke?? If I had pot that works for me but cant get any.

Please. Need real help with this,, just one nights sleep will help fix my retarded sleep pattern.

For how long you have sleeping problems?
Do you find falling asleep at proper time or anytime at night difficult?

To give an idea of what my sleep is like at the moment, I fell asleep this morning at about 4.30, woke up at 7.30. Decided the best thing to do would be stay awake all day and get tired enough to get a proper sleep at the right time of night.

Went to bed at 7 (Just conked out, couldnt stay awake) and woke up 2 hours later,, eyes wide awake but my body feels really fatigued. I was in a dark noiseless lightless room by myself and I woke up after only 2 hours when I was dead tired : /. Will be trying to get back to sleep but usually at this point will lie there in bed til around 3-4 am and then end up sleeping all day.

First off warm milk is fake and does nothing.

If you want to sleep good go to the store and buy Melatonin. Its to help you sleep and works good. I normally took 1 and a half pills b4 bed. Your supposed to take only 1.
Another thing you can try is niqual night time. It works really good. I dont even use the real niqual I use the janarik stuff.

Actually what I do is take 1 and half pills of melatonin and take the niqual night time. Not supposed to but it works super good!!! I feel like im almost floating and once I lay down im sleeping with in 3 mins.

Do you usually fall asleep at about the same time every "night", no matter what time you go to bed?
Do you find it much easier to sleep during the morning than at night?
Have you noticed that you are most alert and function best, in the evening and at night?

Warm milk does nothing for me, either. I prefer it cold anyway!

You shouldn't be mixing things because it can be dangerous!

Niquil does work really great in getting me to sleep but I think it would be pretty unhealthy to use that every night! I only use it when I am sick, but I love it because I don't suffer much with my symptoms and I get to sleep pretty quickly and I am well rested in the morning. I tend to use less than the recommended dosage! Taking a normal dosage will only give me nightmares. At least I would sleep well though... Very

For me I can never fall asleep or stay asleep cause im always thinking of stuff and wondering what time it is cause I hate being woke up by the alarm and being dead tired so im always wondering how much longer I got till its going to go off.

When im not thinking of anything i can get to sleep fast. And soda defintly makes it hard for me to sleep.

A week ago I couldnt get to sleep and it was werid but I started imaginaing hearing crickets like how it sounds out side in the summer at night and doing that managed to make me fall asleep fast.

all i have to say is be careful with the sleeping pills thing..dont take more than directed even if the amount directed isn't working..notify your doctor if youre still having trouble sleeping..and i agree mixing things is dangerous you dont know what the affects are unless your a chemistry major, niquil every night does not sound like a good idea at all personally and anything caffeinated will make it harder to sleep, takes about 6 hours for it to get out of your system i think, so if you are drinking sodas, tea, coffee, eating chocolate maybe you should stay away from those things...i think you should speak to a doctor maybe they can prescribe you something, and..you should definitely take it as prescribed..come on have we learned nothing from heath ledgers recent tragic death? also I dont know about you but if i dont drink enough before bed i'll wake up in the middle of the night for no reason even if I'm exhausted..so maybe stay hydrated and speak with a physician about it!

I do the same thing - can't sleep and then am exhausted during the day. I have tried everything. Benadry, Nyquil, Tylenol PM, etc. Yeah, it works for about 4 hours and takes about 1 1/2 to still fall asleep and then I feel horrible the next day. The doctor has even prescribed sleeping pills for me - the same thing - maybe 4 hours sleep - and plus, they are very addicting!! I have heard kava a natural herb is good, but since I have also it is hard on your liver. So......I just stay awake and sleep when I can, and feel fatigued always. Do not buy sleep MD - it is a waste of money - expensive, and does not work. Well, I guess I shouldn't say that. Medications work differently on individuals. But...I think it worked just the opposite - I think I got less sleep the three nights I took it than if I had not.

Melatonin is one of the safest sleep meds you can use and you cant get adicted to it and its cheep and can buy it at any store.

I have not done research on Melatonin, but one of the emplolyees at GNC Health Food told me that is was addictive, but that Valerian Root was not. I do not know. I bought the Valarian Root, but it didn't do much for my insomnia. I will research the Melatonin and try it. At this point, addicting or not, I need some SLEEP!

Well my docs the one that tole me about Melatonin when I was like 14 and I took it every night from then on for over 4 years and I decided to stop taking it one day for ever and I did it no problume. Its a natural chemical in your body the pill just gives you a lil more to make you more tired.

I could never take more than directed because I'm apparently "delicate". I usually take less than directed because normal or excess dosage of any kind of medication or drug can do weird things to my body. I don't understand how anyone can mix all these kinds of drugs to get to sleep because if I were to try that I would be asleep for eternity if you know what I mean!

Yes, caffeine consumption definitely does make it harder for people to fall asleep. I don't drink soda, coffee or tea at all. The only things I really drink are water and milk. But, I do love my chocolate! I should see if that's one of the reasons making it hard for me to sleep. But, I will have to get someone to hide my chocolate very well! Very
