I recently saw a talk show in which doctors were discussing menstruation. As I've heard many times before, the doctors said that a normal menstrual flow is only about 4-12 teaspoons or 35-40 mL for the ENTIRE period. I feel like that is about what I expel over a span of one to two days. Over the years I have spoken to my doctors about this and they all say that I have a heavier than normal flow with slight anemia and this is nothing to be concerned about. But every woman I know says her flow has to be more than these amounts.
(I know some people distinguish between actual blood and menstrual fluid. These amounts are for everything: menstrual fluid and blood combined.)
So, here's my question:
When you menstruate, are you lighter than, heavier than or equal to this amount?
