Hello, I have CKD stage 3. Recently I developed a condition for which Prednisone has been prescribed which gives me major heartburn! What can I take that's OK for my kidneys? I notice Tums contains sodium pyrophosphate as an inactive ingredient.
Any ideas or personal experiences? Thanks for any help

Hello and welcome to e health forum.

To control the gastritis that results due to intake of prednisone, you can definitely continue to take tums, mylanta and other antacids.

In addition, omeprazole (Prilosec) might also help to reduce the acid secretions as well.

Intake of SUCRALFATE can help in mucosal healing and preventing further symptoms.
