Hey
okay, so i am 15 years old male (turning 16 next month). My heart rate used to feel normal (no hard pounding or fast pounding for no reason). Then One month ago there was this time where, out of nowhere my heart started beating really, really fast, and i couldn't breathe properly and so my parents took me to the hospital. Once i reached there, they checked my heart rate, and it was about 108 beats per minute, then eventually returned to normal. They did ecg's, x-rays, checked my blood pressure, and did all the tests. Then they told me everything was fine, and maybe it was a lack of water (dehydration), and to not worry about it. For the past month (after i went to the hospital about the fast heart rate), i have been having this breathing problem, where it goes on and off, sometimes i can breathe just fine, and sometimes i have trouble breathing. Now, since yesterday, it feels like my heart beat is pounding hard (not fast but hard), I am checking my heart rate at the time where it ranges from 84 to 90 beats per minute. Why does my heart feel like its pounding harder now? Is this a problem? Should i get it checked? And also i can see my heart pounding a little through my chest when i take my shirt off now. (is this a problem, i think i couldn't see it before, but maybe i didn't pay that much attention before?)

Only serious answers please! No jokes please, im only 15!

Additional Details
by the way, I am 5'11 or 5'12 and weigh about 130-140 pounds
Also, my heart is beating a little faster than it use to (i think)
~~It never happened before, so.. i didn't used to pay attention to it i guess.. now all i do is keep thinking about it and consistently and checking my pulse.... (also sometimes, for a little while i cant breathe properly, not all the time though)

Thanks to all those who took their time to give me an answer.

I know exactly what you mean about it beating fast and not being able to breath well when i was in high school i was 17 years old and it started with me 2. my heart was beating out of control i couldnt breath so i went o the nurse she checked my heart rate but mine was off the wall rediculous it was 250 beats a min. yeah crazy huh. it didnt scare me till i went to the heart doctor and he told me i could either be on heart meds for the rest of my life or have an oblation done on my heart so i chose the surgery cause i wanted it to go away well the surgery worked until i started getting anxiety then i had to get on meds but i check my pulse alot and it beats hard but its healthy i promise you may want to ask about beta blockers or something to sooth the rate down a lil. ask to see a heart doctor not a reg doctor...

anxiety
I had the same problem whenever I was driving on the road or in stressful situations.
I was getting nausia and heart pounding and trouble breathing.
I never used to have anxiety, my anxiety started after getting a viral infection ..
you can get herbal remedies from the chemist (bach's remedies) for stress and anxiety otherwise ... the doctor gave me some mild meds for a 4 week period and it went away after about 2 days Smile. so far so good

Hard Pounding hearth
Hey pal!
The same happens to me... the story is a bit different, though. I started also with some sort of infection that caused Prostatitis which is an acute swelling of your prostate... well the thing is after the doctor prescribed some medication I started to feel like hell... even though I just take this medication for a couple of days I'm not the same since that. Sometimes I'm lying on my bed and suddenly wake up because of this hard pounding hearth that literally takes my breath away... I have come to believe that is related to stress... and the things I eat don't help either. For instance chocolate. So my suggestion is checking what you eat. Does it worsen the thing...? does it affect to you any particular condition like moving suddenly or going through a stressed situation...? in my case going to the restroom to pee at night leaves me the feeling as though I had ran a Marathon, even though I regularly use the cross traininig for 50 minutes... Doctors have prescribed to me Tafil .025 and It has worked well, however it's something you should take care of... it may cause you certain dependance... At the begining I thought it was baloney the stress thing... but I guess I've finally come to believe it may be that... I'm still copping with the thing... I'll keep you posted if I know something new. And if someone else is in the same problem, please don't hesitate to post the solution or his/her experience.

Cheers!

panic, anxiety
Hi! I'm Alexandra, I'm 22 and I have exactly the same problem! At first I got those unpleasant fast heart beats and now it's beating hard. I cannot even go out for a walk, cause it beats really, really fast and I get dizzy after a while. Doctors tell me it's anxiety and I also experienced panic attacks, about 2 in the past 2 weeks. I did alot of tests and a psychiatrist told me that I might have suffered from a shock or for some upsetting event in the past months, cause usually that is the reason for this general anxiety. They don't find anything wrong with the heart, but I may lack magnesium and calcium, which I think is what u have too. So don't worry, you are fine. If u get pains, check a doctor.
