About 1 1/2 months ago I had heart palpitations all day long for a week. had 24 heart monitor, ekg and bllod work and all came back fine. About 1 week after they went away. Now I have every so often a squeezing feeling under my left breast right under my rib cage. No pain whatsoever. I few weeks ago I ate a big lunch and right after I felt like something was pushing there, was kind of tight. I had just a couple of palpitations right afterwards, but they went away after just a couple. Now this squeezing going on (again no pain). Could something be pushing up agains t my heart in my stomach area to cause palpitaionts or this squeezing sensation. After I use the bathroom (bowel movement) I get some relief. Was wondering if something may be inflammed or be caused by gas etc.

General Q and A Answer A4957
Current medical status: 24 Heart Monitor, EKG and blood work for heart palpitations
Current medical treatment: none

The 24 hours ECG-monitoring test (“holter”) is the most accurate medical test for detecting any heart rhythm disorders. If the “holter”-test is negative (normal) that means that your symptoms are only subjective (not real). Such symptoms that can’t be confirmed with certain medical tests are typical for hypochondria – a kind of neurotic disorder.

It is very unlikely that “something” from the stomach is causing pressure upon the heart.
