Ok so I'm sure a lot of people think they hear stuff, like they hear like a buzzing or something...I have that a lot lol. But atleast twice in the past I've sworn (sp?) that I've heard voices. People I know saying my name, usually just my name. Though once I heard "Kendra wake up" and I was def. not sleeping. Just lying in bed awake, not even tired. And most recently I heard my b/f say my name and when I said what...he didn't say anything...but here's the thing...I KNOW I heard it. I know i did. ugh...so anyone know what this is...or if it could be connected to anything?

Hi
This mimic's more toward schzopharnia then Bipolar. Let you doctor know every symtom you are having. Hearing voices is a classic of schzo and there are medications out there that can help you through it. I am on one and I will tell you it has changed my life. I am also Bipolar. The meds and theropy ( not right now) have done me the world of good.
By hiding these symtoms are hurting yourself when you could be leading a close to normal lifestyle. I say go get it taken care of now.

well the thing is...this has only happened like under 5 times...and very far apart. I thought it was possible with bipolar to have delusions and hallucinations...I think the only times I've had these are when I'm in a "good" mood...

hearing things
I hear music, very low voices, and people calling my name as well. Lexapro does this to me. I know this for a fact. I was on it for a couple of months, gained about 10 lbs and it was not helping anxiety/depression/weakness so I gradually quit taking it. But........since I can't take any other meds because of bad side effects, we decided to try the Lexapro again. The same thing is happening again. I have been on it since May 1st this time and I hate those feelings. I am scheduled to see my doctor for an ultrasound due to an enlarged thyroid on the 24th and will discuss this with her. The only thing, she is an endocrinologist, so will probably refer me to someone else for different meds, unless the thyroid turns out to be malignant. Are you on any kind of meds?

I take anitdepressant : Prozac and mood stabalizer : Lamictal. Like I said I'm not even sure if this means I'm bipolar? My doctors just have me at Mood Disorder NOS and I don't want to mention stuff that has no relevance.

I do not think the Prozac would be doing it, but doctor's will prescribe Lamictal for individuals who are not bipolar as well. I could not function on it. I started out at 25 mg. the first week, up to 50 mg. the second week and told her I could not function on the Lamictal. I was so drugged feeling on it - she took me off. What mood disorder med did she give you? I have taken almost every med there is old/new and none of them have helped me. That is why I was sent to an endocrinologist and she found the enlarged thyroid. I hate to think of it being cancer since I have been sick for two years. I am a totally different person than I was. I was always full of energy, go, go, go, etc and now I can hardly get out of bed, had to quit my job (after 14 years), and can't drive. My husband and daughter take me to my appointments. I am 46 and have never in my life been sick or experienced anything like this.

This needs a professional diagnosis to be treated with the propper medications. We can all try and guess what catagorie you may or not be in. But, when it all biols down to it, get a pro and get to the bottom of it. Each of us have diferent symtoms with the same disorder. I agree, some doctors are way to fast to give medicaations without putting together the whole puzzle. I consider myself very lucky to have a doctor that picked up on something I had kept a deep dark secret for about 30 years.

That's the thing. She just said she's not quite sure yet. I'm just Not Otherwise Specified. To tell you the truth I don't know either. My mood gets bad in the winter and summer. And it's usually really energetic in the spring and fall. I seem like i have bipolar symptoms just not severe enough to disturb my everday life....besides the depression which basically cripples me. The Lamictal and the Prozac have been good I guess but...idk aren't they supposed to make you tired? I'm up all night. Though that's how I get in the summer.

It is possible to have auditory hallucinations with bipolar disorder. This is not uncommon with this condition. NOS means that you do not fit neatly into BPI or BPII with you symptoms.

Be sure you report these incidents to your doctor. Keep a log and record your mood, the circumstances during the incidents, and when they occurred. You may start to see a pattern in when they occur.

well see I'm only Mood Disorder NOS. They don't even know if I'm bipolar yet. That's the thing.I"m still not sure, so I don't know what is relevant to tell my doctor.

OK, speaking as an X health care worker I will say that as small as you may think it might be, everything is relevant enough to tell your doctor. The most slightest issue to you may just be that piece of the puzzle that is needed for a proper diagnosis.

That's right. I've had both auditory and visual hallucinations over the years myself (Bipolar I) - they are a symptom of psychosis.

The mood diary is a good idea, I kept one before my diagnosis.

well I feel perfectly normal. Maybe a lil more energetic lately. sleep has been a little weird, but not insomnia..mainly just staying up late, can't sleep till 5am...then I end up waking up every hour ish....I dont' feel tired though. got a job randomly and I went from unemployed for 6 months to working almost 30 hours a week and it isn't tiring me out....and lately I've had random "auditory hallucinations". it feels weird saying that but...only like a few...and randomly...I don't know if it's psychosis...I mean I feel fine. Just happy and more energetic than usual.

I was on lexipro before and it didn't help at all. I'm on lamictal now, and it's starting to wear off. I've been hearing things since I was 6 and I've only seen things a few times. Don't let people tell you that there's something wrong with you, because your just more sensitive then them. Just because you hear things doesn't mean your Skitzophrenic. My doctors say I have small seizures in my brain, just keep updating doctors on how your doing. You'll find an answer, and sometimes the things you hear and see can help you.
