Health insurance for Freelancer

I'm a recent college graduate, and being included on my parents coverage is not an option since I'm past the cutoff age. I'm currently freelancing, but may one day get a full-time job with benefits. It could be soon, it could be years from now. Most likely, within two years. What would my best option be as far as health and possibly dental coverage for now? I'm not familiar with what long term or short term coverage entails. I'm healthy, and have been without insurance for about a year now with no problems, though I'd like to be able to have a check-up and dental cleaning once in a while without having to pay totally out of pocket. Most of all I really want to be covered in case anything major.

What are the best options for individual health insurance for someone who rarely needs to go to a doctor, has a fairly modest income, and may be signed on to group benefits in the not-so-far away future?

You're young, go for the short term coverage. You're not going to need health insurance that much considering your age.

You can go to your State's Insurance Commissioners website for a resource. They have plenty of links you can research.
