I have lately been awakened with a headache in my right temporal area. Whenever I take meds it will go away, but returns if I lay back down or when I go to sleep at night, it rarely returns during the day. I dont know exactly when it startrs just that i am awakened byu the pain. What could be causing this?

The pain you have may be directly related to neuromuscular/TMJ issue. Your symptoms fit a classic profile. Pain in this region comes from the temporal muscle being stressed.
See your dentist/TMJ specialist for ans examination and advice.
