Q: Headaches and hormone imbalance ?

I am 17 and a little over weight. I exercise three hours everyday and I never lose weight I just keep gaining fat. I eat right and everything. I have perfect blood pressure and cholesterol. I have also not had my period in 10 months. I have had a number of tests done and they all come back saying everything is perfect. I was on birth control but it only helped for a month or two and then stopped. My doctor says I have a hormone imbalance except nothing has worked. I am starting to get worried because I am now starting to get headaches off and on throughout the day for the past couple of weeks and I don't have allergies or stress right now. Could I have something more serious going on or are they not linked at all?

Find a endocrinologist who will find out what / which hormones are out of balance and get you back in sync.

You may be over-exercising as well, which could be the cause of the amenoreah (no period). What zig says is right: an endicrinologist will be able to help you much more than a regular MD because they specialize in hormonal treatments.

i just found out that women who excercise a lot have a menstrual problem. you should be happy you haven't had your period, most women who exercise a lot have heavy & prolonged periods.
this information can be researched on the net.
i have a hormone imbalance and my period is prolonged.

Hormonal Imbalance
"you should be happy you haven't had your period"... that's not helpful-that's just plain discouraging and insensitive. You should think what you say before you post it!

I believe I also have a hormonal imbalance, I'm 16 and have suffered from moderate acne since I was 12, I have an irregular period (sometimes I miss months at a time) and suffer from bloating, stomach cramps and frequent headaches.

I am physically healthy, at a healthy weight, and exercise daily. So it's not that you're over-exercising; 3 hours per day is good to exercise (as long as you're eating and sleeping right, which from what I can tell, you are). I wouldn't reccomend taking any more pills or medications the doctor may prescribe from now on-it seems as though you've been through your fair share already, just as I have (nothing has helped me either). What doctors don't tell you is that the medications can just be adding to the problem!!!

However, I would reccomend doing some research and finding a certified practitioner of traditional Chinese herbal medicine.

It may seem sketchy at first, and alot of people don't believe medicine practiced in these forms are "as good" as modern medicine, but honestly what have you got to lose?

All the herbs are 100% natural and have no side effects.

This one Chinese Herbalist helped get rid of my mom's gallstones when she was pregnant with my little brother-doctors told her they had to immediately operate and her son would be lost, instead she went to the herbalist and drank natural mixtures she had to brew everyday for a couple months and it completely cured her. Even after doctors told her it would be impossible; and my brother was born completely healthy!

This doctor also helped cleanse my dad's liver after doctors told him it couldn't be done (he has hep c).

I'm going to see him myself this Saturday, so hopefully he can help me out too.

I wish you the best of luck and hopefully you find the right choice for you-whether or not you take my advice. But please consider it! It just might be the thing for you!

you may think that, but if you were going through it yourself, you'd understand no one wants that

"you should be happy you haven't had your period"??????what did that on earth mean??? i agree with Helenrad....Your problem seems to be a serious one but everything has a solution if applied in time. I would suggest you consult a Chiropractor. You may have a hormonal imbalance which could be cured in a more natural and safer way.
