Hi, I am new to this forum and about 17 mos. ago I was involved in a motorcycle accident that nearly took my life. I was riding up at school in CT (where there are no helmet laws) with a helmet on but apparently I did not bukle it because it came off mid-flight. I have been back in school now and I experience the most severe head-ache you could imagine except it is not a headache. I have found out but it is hard to tell the difference between this headache and a real headache except when advil doesnt work. I have come to the conclusion that it is stress because when I must study and go to class all in the same day it is almost like my head gets twisted. It is EXTREMELY hard for this not to occur, I can do work telling myself not to stress but it is almost inevitable. I know some stress management that has been working but am looking for alternatives if anyone who has this kind of injury has ever done yoga or anything like that and also wondering if this will ever go away/how long does the healing last. Replies are greatly appreciated and thank you in advance

Hi
Just found your post...you can consider yourself blessed....like myself, I had a cerebral aneurysm in 1999. I am not trying ot frighten you or upset you, jsut telling you form my standpoint. I had headaches before the anureysm, and to this day, I have stress headaches. I have learned ot tell the difference between sinus headache, and stress...I do have some age on you. I've taken so many NSSAID (advil, motrin etc, its casued gastritis. So, now I try to take as little as possible. My suggestion, instead of reaching for a pain reliever, try a cold pack of peas (or anything frozen) from the freezer. Place this in the crook of your neck and lie back and relax. Dehydration causes headaches, therefore I drink a lot of water. School can be demanding, so instead of trying to cram and stress out, pace yourself. You need to look online at relaxation techinques....if this persist, i'd suggest seeing a neurologist (GREAT HEAD DOCTORS)! I do hope you find relief, you are too young to have this happening to you! God bless you! Hope I've helped some! FGM

Hi, glad to hear you made it through such a terrible accident. Have you had an MRI of your brain to determine if there are viewable problems? I had a bad closed head injury almost 4 years ago and still live with headaches. Sometimes the headaches stem from cervical damage from the accident. If you have not already done so, I really would suggest getting this checked by a neurologist to rule out some dangerous conditions that could be causing the headaches.

I cant have an MRI since I have hardware holding my skull in place. I do not try and stress over school work it just happens almost automatically. I do see a nuerologist who has prescribed me ADD meds to help me concentrate for school. I seem to only get these headaches at the end of the week after lots of work, they stem from stress and fatigue mostly.
