Hello,i am 21 year old girl.My problem is whenever i cry and put pressure on me mentally it occurs headache.It lasts about 30 min-2 hr.when the headache starts the nurves of my head are like pounding and then i can feel the pulse of my head also.I can feel then the pulse of my forehead.sometimes it is one side and sometimes it happens in two side of my head.When i cry more the pain spreads into my eyes,cheeks,jaws.Sometimes it occurs vomitting also.It destructed my regular work.I want to know what kind of headache it is?What is the treatment to get rid of this headache? Please help....Doctor.

Alright, why do you cry in the first place, sorry for asking this but it's somewhat relevant in the context of what you have asked?

Well, when you cry, if I am not wrong, the nervous system gets excited, may be the heart pumps more blood and there is increase in blood flow in the arteries and veins including those in the head and that's why you can feel the pulse in your head. I feel them even when I am just lying on my bed. So that's normal.

"What is the treatment to get rid of this headache"? Well, first the doctor has to know what is causing the headache. May be he will ask for CT scan of brain and para nasal sinuses. Could also ask you to perform certain other tests depending on the symptoms.

By the way, how severe is the headache? Is it a sharp or dull headache?

thanks 4 ur concern.what i feel about it the headache is kind of severe...and i think the main problem is not about crying i never heard from anyone...due to crying occurs headache..!!!

I have have always had a bad headache if I have been very upset and cried hard for a long time. It is normal for this to happen to me.

crying can cause headache. if your upset and you cry, your under stress and it could cause you a headache.
i was just talking about my son's dead beat dad and i had a headache.
i had migraine headaches for 10 years. my doctor prescribed imetrex and aspirin. i would lay in bed and curle in a ball and pray to God. i was sensitive to light, noise, movement on the bed, my head and eye was pounding.
years later when i was out of a relationship and unemployed my migraine headaches went away.

headache after crying
yes it's true for me crying also cause headache. there are certain time in our life we encounter problems and being hurt and we can't help ourselves to cry, so this is a problem too for me. i have an headache now because of crying.yes i think stress have something to do also with headache after crying, we cry because of problems or we are hurt and we think about it a lot.

crying headache causes
i have read that hypoxia from breath-holding during crying triggers vasoconstriction and pain arises out of incresed BP in the constricted vessels. and face/jaw muscles cramping. and sinus congestion. and 'stress', whatever that mechanism may be... take your pick.
i only know that the crying spell i have just had has lasted more than 24 hours, though i have managed to sleep through much of it- a massive 13-hour sleep- but have actually woken up to its continuation- can't seem to stop the tears, and the head continues to hurt badly. aspirin and paracetamol did almost nothing.
