Severe one-sided headache, felt as a pain with lancinating (knife-like) or boring quality, and located behind the eye (periorbital) or in the temple, sometimes radiating to the neck or shoulder, accompanied with tearing eye, eye redness, drooping eyelid, runny nose, and sometimes facial blushing, swelling, or sweating, is most likely a cluster headache.
At the time of attack, sufferer feels restlessness, having an aversion to bright lights and loud noise.
Attacks striking at a precise time of day each morning or night is typical for cluster headache.
