I have been suffering from head aches and migrains everyday for 3 months. I am going to a neroligist in august but i can not take this any more. Every day I wake up with a bad head ache. 5 out of 10 on pain scale every morning i take tylenol and advil and go to bed with ice packs. 5 out of 7 days this works but some times they turn into migrains. I suffer from migrains 2-3 times a week the pain comes from the back of my neck straight up to my for head. i have tried all migrains medications with my doctor and none have helped. she has given my tylenol #3 and this will knock me out for a couple of hours and i usually will wake with no help for the pain. still there... i am getting so tired of these and I have asked for blood tests of a ct scan.... still waiting to hear from my doctor. I know I am doing damage to my liver with all the medication i am taking but i am a nurse and have to work so every day is the same routine. I am on an antidepressant and with the doctors ok have decreased this med to every other day in hopes they would get better. But nothing helps. I reduced salt intake drink 1-2 cups of coffee in the morning. Is there any hope for me i am so tired of this pain. even when i don't have a head ache later on in the day my neck still is sore. I had x-rays of my neck and have ostio arthritis in my neck no athritis meds help either. I am desperate to find something anything to get rid of this pain.
thank you..... Tired

It is very possible that the cause for your chronic headaches is the cervical osteoarthritis you already have.
Although, the main symptom of CO is neck pain, neck stiffness and shoulder pain, in some cases of degenerative cervical disease, a headaches can be the dominant symptom.
The headaches are usually suboccipital, starting at the back of the neck and radiating to the base of the neck and the vertex of the skull.
Actually, you may have a occipital neuralgia resulting from compression of the occipital nerve as it leaves the spine due to osteoarthritis.

Best wishes!
