I get a severe stabbing headache when descending from higher altitudes. It occurs on airplanes during the final descent and has happened driving toward the end of a descent from about 4500 feet to sea level. I don't experience it at altitude--only near the end of the descent. It is sudden, like hundreds of needles jabbing in the upper left top & forehead area--what I imagine a migraine feels like. The one yesterday involved the eye socket as well. They last about 10 minutes and sometimes leave a throbbing headache that lasts an hour or more. I find lots of info about altitude sickness but nothing about pain that comes on after you leave the altitude. Could it be related to chronic sinus congestion? Is it anything to worry about? Thanks.
