Q: Headache and MS testing
asked by: DoctorQuestion on September 8th, 2009
I am a 40 year old female that has been undergoing test for MS, for the past week I have had a headache that is interfering with my daily activities. I have tried many over the counter medications and just wonder if it is something that I should get checked our? It is in the back of my head and feels like someone is trying to pull the back of my head off.

Headache and Migraines Answer A7471
Hi
Welcome to the forum!
The headaches that you are facing, more in occipital region can be migraines, cluster headaches, of compression of cervical spinal nerves. It could also be due to some lesion in the brain. Once you get the MRI done maybe things will be more clear.
You can tell your neurologist about these headaches. Maybe a MRI of cervical spine would need to be included. This can also cause numbness in arms and legs.
Poor sleep patterns and high blood pressure are the two other possibilities.
Patients with MS are more prone to migraines and cluster headaches. However until the diagnosis is confirmed, you will have to keep all options open.
However without examining it is difficult to give a confirmed diagnosis and treatment on net. Hence consult your doctor and discuss these points. Hope this helps. Take care!
