Two times in the past two months I have been woken in the middle of the night with excruiating pain on the top of my head: I describe it as if the top of my head might blow off. I vomit, have the runs, go into a cold sweat and can barely move because of the head pain. This time, I also seemed to have popped a blood vessel in my right eye. Both times it has taken me a couple of days to recover, I seem to be left with low level head pain and a spaced out feeling (I'm only taking Advil). Do you think I have migraines? Thank you for your time and input in advance.

Hi, and thanks for your medical question on eHealth forum

Waking up in the middle of the night with headache, vomiting, loose motion can be due to food poisoning. It could also be intolerance to some food item. So look back and see if there was some common food item that could have caused this.

High blood pressure, migraine and benign intracranial hypertension (due to impaired CSF absorption) are the other possibilities.

It is difficult to comment beyond that on net. Please consult your PCP and try and get an appointment for a neurologist. Hope this helps. Take care!
