Related to the loss of estrogen stored in the fat.
Hello, I am not an expert. But my guess is that you are experiencing what happens to some women after they give birth. During the pregnancy, the body has built up estrogen, which causes hair growth (your estrogen was built up in your fat), when the pregnancy is over (when you lost the fat that had stored the estrogen) then the excess hair falls out. I experience it after pregnancy and I hate it! This is my guess for you. Hope it helps!

hair loss and hcg-my solution
I finished my second round of hcg and had the same experience with hair loss. I thought something was seriously wrong. I went to my doctor and she tested my hormone level, and thyroid and some other blood test. All was normal. I did some research and saw that a lot of women had success with evening primrose oil. I started taking 1000 mg, three tmes a day. Once in the morning, late afternoon and then again before bed time. I started noticing a huge difference about 6 weeks into it...Now, it has been about 4 months and I am hardly losing any hair at all--maybe 3-4 strands when I brush it out and I no longer have thin spots in my scalp. I will be taking this stuff forever. It is pretty cheap--about $5 a bottle and you can buy at walmart, walgreens, etc. It really, really works! My hair had fallen out so badly that it was super thin--it was all I thought about. I now have a wonderfully thick head of hair again and I am super happy

me too! i just completed my 2nd round a month ago & my hair is falling out like crazy!!! I called the nurse who was supervising me and asked her? I said the exact same thing that mammabaron suggested, she said not a side effect? Well I think it is! It's exactly the same thing that happened to my hair after birth! you're not alone! But I really hope it comes back like it did after pregnancy!!

hair loss
I too experienced this after my second round. Seems that it's really common. I've been off the hcg for about a month now and it's finally slowing down a lot. I've started taking vitamins. I don't know if that's helping or if it's just tapering off on it's own. On my next round i'm going to be faithful at taking my vitamins and see if that will help.

I have only done one round and started loosing tons of hair about 2 weeks after being off now, I'm back on the 2nd round and it is still coming out. I was told not to take any vitamins while on the HCG. Do you take a multi vitamin while on HCG?

HCG Hair Loss
I have been off the HCG for 3 months now, and just noticed in the past two weeks my hair has fallen out in globs. I have probably lost a third of my hair in these two weeks. I never experienced this with my pregnancies. I am in total shock as to how much hair is constantly falling out. Anyone have any ideas how to stop it.

I have taken 2 rounds, off since the 2nd week in December and yes my hair is about 1/2 as think as it has been all my life. No I will not take HCG again due to this, what an inspiration to work out a little harder and eat less... I'd rather be a little think about the middle with thick hair than thin all over including my hair.... I took vitamins consistantly, it's still falling out. I hate to wash due to having to witness when combing.

I decided not to try this diet plan because of this. 6 of my relatives have done this, and 4 of them lost a SIGNIFICANT amount of hair. (the other 2 were men and already bald) I actually noticed the hair loss before the weight loss. It looks awful.

Hair loss
I completed the HCG diet about 3 months ago. I normally have thick naturally curly hair. I have lost about 60% of my hair. I have had tons of blood work taken but was just told to take Biotin and a multi-vitamin. I am still experiencing hair loss. It is very depressing. I would not recommend this diet if you value your hair. Sad

As a physcian, You will need special supplements. Use Saw Palmetto 320mg twice a day and you can order Minoxidyl found in Bosley.com hair products only They have purchased the distribution rights. Shampoo and conditioner around 25$ or so. Check out their website or ebay. This really works and stops the hair loss. I had great weight loss with HCG but at least 50-60% hair loss. It will return maybe a little less, but this regimen is medically sound and safe. Metablolic Doc M.D.

I took the shots which ended the middle of May - since then I too have had significant hair loss (1/2). I went to my dermatologist yesterday. He put me on prescription Folic Acid and told me to use shampoo with zinc in it (DSH) He said he could see regrowth. He made me an appt for 90 days.
He said your body goes into SHOCK when you use low calorie diets - but the good news is it can be stopped. Hopefully, this works - I've lost alot of sleep and have had continuous stress from the loss of my hair.
I told the doctor that I was just "stupid" to do this. he said, "No, stupid would be if you do it again".
Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for responding. I was on the drops and had great success, lost 85 lbs but not worth the hair loss issues. I will be making an appt with a dermatologist today! I went to one of those hair loss specialists yesterday and all they wanted to consider was laser treatments. I think the dermatologist is the smarter way to go for now, thank you. Yes - talk about stress... even though trying NOT to (so that doesn't contribute to more hair loss) I am stressing out over it. Have you noticed your hair starting to regrow some at this point now?

Today I noticed some "small hair" growth aroung my scalp. My hair is still coming out, but seems to be not as before, of course, my hair is not as thick either. Take the folic acid and a multivitamin along with the DSH zinc shampoo. Will keep you updated. I vow NEVER to do any "quick fix" again!

The hair loss continues as long as you are taking HCG. Once off, it will taper down slowly until the HCG is out of your system. Your hair will grow back.. I lost alot of hair my first go round. I was told it had nothing to do with HCG. Well when I stopped my hair grew back, and on my second go round within about 7 weeks it started falling out again. I know it is the HCG. It affects your thyroid. Its not a permanent thing.

HCG hair loss
I did this diet twice, and noticed a substantial amount of hair loss after round 2. By that I mean hair in my brush increased and a lot of fly aways on my clothes and bathroom floor. It took about 3-4 months for it to end. I certainly wouldn't say I noticed bald spots or an amount to make me not recommend it. It is temporary, and your hair will regrow.

I stopped the HCG diet about 2 months ago and I have already lost about 40 percent of my hair. I had thin hair to begin with and now I am close to being bold. I am a 27 year female and this has just been so depressing for me. I recently started lookin for wigs cause my hair just keeps falling out. I don't know what to do!

HCG and Hair loss
Any time your body loses weight in a rapid fashion, your body goes through a certain amount of stress. This stress can be maifested in a multitude of ways...hair loss being one of them. This is common among patients who have had the bariatric surgery. To say this is a side effect of HCG is making a giant leap. To say this can happen because of the rapid loss...that's a fair statement.

I'm so glad I read your responses. I'm just started round 2 two weeks ago and I am losing my hair very quickly. I cry every morning when I brush my hair and see what falls into the sink! I'm stopping the shots as of now. I had a feeling the shoits were the cause, and now I'm convinced. I take vitamins daily as well as Biotin and my hair is still falling out. Hopefully when the HCG is out of my system my hair will start growing back. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

HGC diet and hair loss
I did a lot of research and it seems that the HCG is NOT the problem. It is the low calorie diet. Your body is fighting to survive and is pulling it's resources from something that is not necessary for survival so that it can continue to keep all of the important systems going. I looked into beriatric surgery, and it is common after that as well, for the same reason. However, I was told that it is usually a temporary condition, and that once you start eating normally, your thyroid and hormones stabalize, and the hair will regrow.
I did have an aunt who lost most of her hair during and after a different diet, and her doctor told her later that if she had taken a multivitamin for pregnancy (even though she wasn't, the doctor said the higher Iron levels in the pills were necessary for someone on a restricted diet of any kind) she probably wouldn't have lost her hair permanently. Unfortunately, by the time she started taking the vitamins, it was too late.

I do support the fact that its the low calorie diet thats causing the hair loss,if thats the case, im on day 4 round 1 of hcg, if i continue i may have no hair by the end of P2 yikes!! I think i will just go on a healty diet plan, take my vitamins and try to lose 15 pounds the natural way, my hair is half of what it used to be because of age and improper diet, I started the hcg some months ago but only made it for one week and stopped, my hair has been falling since then.....I think the hcg does have "silent side effects". I do wish everyone that their hair stops shedding, i wish the same for me soon too!

Hairloss
I was on the HCG diet for 5 months. I did 2 rounds. I always ate 900-1000 calories each day and took vitamins. When I quit taking the HCG injections on July 29Th 2011 my hair started to fall out in clumps. I always had very thick hair and I think I've lost 50-60% of my hair. I am completely devastated. I want to know how long this will go on for. I have had to cut my hair much shorter and I hate washing it. My doctor told me today that some people experience this. Had he told me this when I first went to him I never would have took the HCG.

I already have thinning hair (unrelated to HCG). I'm in the middle of my first round and after reading these posts I'm really afraid of what might happen! Can any of you tell me if you've experienced hair loss while taking sublingual HCG? I think I'm going to finish up this 30-day round and stop. I need to lose more weight, but the risk is just too high for me.

I only took 20 days of the sublingual drops and 2 months later I have a half dollar size bald spot in the back of my head! I know it must be from the HCG!!! I will never ever use this stuff again. Had I done my research to see what the effects were I would have not done this. I am hoping it will grow back soon. No such luck yet.

I'm also experiencing hair loss and its been only on my first round. So done. I always had healthy thick hair now it's falling out by the droves. I already tried to cut my hair in a cute short style but the short hair style is falling out. I will stop this hcg today to never do this again. I will just have to change my lifestyle with healthy eating and plenty of water. Thanks for the info.

I had hcg injections last July. I lost my hair in the back and am now experiencing loss in the front, 7 months later. My hair is too thin to cut all over so I have to endure the loss. Painful experience indeed.

I was taking the sublingual HCG and after a week, noticed my hair falling out quite heavily. I have stopped taking the HCG and have begun taking a multi-vitamin. I am not sure if it was the actual HCG or the fact that I had significantly dropped my caloric intake, but either way, my hair is now thinning and falling out and I am terrified that at 37 I am going bald. While I cannot see any bald spots yet, my hair is so much thinner than it was a week ago. It's scary.

I went to my dermatologist and he told me to take biotin and also use rogaine. he adds a liquid form of retin a to the rogaine, wich is originally ment for acne but he said it helps the rogaine work a lot better. i have been using it for about 3 weeks and my hair loss has slowed down quite a bit. he said it will take about 3 months for my hair to start growing back. it's been 3 months since i stopped the diet.

HCG is loosing me hair
I did the HCG shots for 1 month, took off a month and did the shots again for 1 month. During the second round I noticed thin hair. I started using Rogain, taking vitamins and bought a $600 lazer hair brush. Several months off the shots, I had gained back a fair amount of weight. My hair was looking thicker, but I was still using lazer brush and Rogain. I got back on the shots to loose the weight I had gained during the 8 months off and noticed my hair was dissapearing again. I know it is the HCG, because I've been good about giving myself the shots, but bad about following the diet. I haven't stuck to the diet or lost any weight this time around; but my hair is balding on top.

HCG and hair loss
I was on the HCG diet and started to notice my hair became really thin about 5 months after I stopped taking it. I am not sure if it is menopause or the HCG but no one in my family has any baldness so I suspect it is the HCG. I just do not know if it will return? So far I do not mind the thin hair but I just do not want to go bald!! Any other thoughts please let me know. Thank you all for writing as it has been very helpful. Smile

Hair loss from HCG
I have been doing a lot of research, deciding wether I should try the HCG diet. There are a lot of people claiming thinning of hair as a side effect. I have seen on a few other sites that people claimed to have had some luck stopping the hair from falling out with a supplement called Regenemax. I just thought I would post this in case it might help lead someone in the right direction. I would be interested in hearing from anyone as to their resolution of the "thinning hair" from HCG, as I am trying to decide if I will try the diet.

I have been on hcg for a week. Today I was lying in bed and noticed a little bigger than a quarter sized completely bald spot on the back of my head. I am twenty six year old female and I have no history of balding in my family. I have had two children and never experienced anything like this during either preganancy. It really scared me at first because I had no idea how I could loose so much hair so quickly. Then I googled it and here I am now. I am positve it is from the hcg. I just called my doctors office and I am waiting to hear back. As for now I am going to stop drops immediately, at this rate I will loose half of my hair over the next few weeks!!
