Q: Having your first period
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 17th, 2009
I've never had my first period before and i earlier today i saw little red spots in my underwear and i was wondering if it was spotting. I've had all the syptoms of pre-menstrual (32a bra, tender breasts, discharge, cramps, armpit and pubic hair, moody etc). So I'm just trying to figure out if it's my period coming??
Thanks

Menstruation Answer A6371

Given the symptoms you reported, you might be experiencing your first menstrual period. It is not uncommon for the first menstrual period to be light and more like spotting. It would be because the female hormones are not in their full strength and in various girls it might even take several years to establish regular menstrual cycles with proper repeating menstrual periods.
