Hi- I am wondering if anyone with hashimotos has experienced what I have. I was diagnosed 6 yrs ago and had no problems until a month ago I started getting angieodema, hives and went into anaphylaxic shock twice. The hives had always been a problem but never this severe. It was as if my entire body was taken over and it left bruising in its path. I was on synthroid for 4 years and been on generic up until the attacks, 3 weeks ago (went back to synthroid. I have been on prednisone 60 mg to supress the immune system and tried to wean off 3 times with the symptoms coming back each time. My thyroid antibodies are 6000 but Free t-3 and Free T-4 are ok. TSH has bounced all over in last month highest being 10.4 lowest .9. Anyone out there with these issues

Extremely eHealthy
Experiencing hives and angioedema are due to your hypothyroidism.
Elevating the dose of thyroid hormone taken daily should solve your symptoms.

yes, unfortunately because of t-3 and t-4 being "normal" endo won't increase synthroid. I only take .75. I guess I need to search for another new doc and hopefully I'll get a better response. Thankds for your input.

hives and thyroid issues
I have been experiencing same/likeness symptoms and have had NO luck in a doctor coming up with any type of help...I was wondering if you ever found a doctor that helped your situation or a remedy?

No unfortunately I have not. I'm sorry. I did discover that I was going back and forth between being hyper and hypo. I am on an antihistamine called hydroxyzine 25 mg at first I was taking it 4 X a day but am not only taking 2, 25mg pills before bed and a zyrtec in the morning. I still have some hives every morning but by mid morning they are gone. My new thyroidoligist Dr. Richard Guttler says that the thryoid problems only worsen any allergies that exist. Also, while in hive state DO NOT take any NASID's that was causing the angioedema. I have never been allergic to ibuprofen but it will also worsen an allergic reaction. Hope some of this helps and best of luck to you.
