I have had a hard knot about the size of a large marble on the back of my neck. I believe it is the source of my headaches and have been to see my GP several times.

He sent me to have an MRI (degeneration of my c-2, c-3 and c-4 ) and to a neurologist a year and a half ago who gave me topamax and welbutrin (doesn't really work). At that time I also stopped all caffeine and artificial sweeteners. I also started going to a chiropractor and weekly massages to fix the problem. (x-rays do not show it as a bone and the massage therapist said does not feel like a muscle).

A month ago I went back to my gp and he referred me to have a CT scan. The CT scan did not show anything either. How can something that everyone can feel not show up on anything! My GP has now sent me to a Pain Specialist who has performed 2 trigger point injections that has not helped at all. The md. who performed the trigger point injections says it feels like a bone. I even had to argue with him and tell him that it was not a bone. The knot it self is not tender yet I feel it is so close to the spine and the base of my skull that it makes the whole back of my neck and head ache.

Please help me with this. I am so tired of being in pain and can't understand why it won't show up on a ct scan/mri. I know it is not anything life threatening because I have had it for several years. I just can't live with it anymore.
