Q: Hard area on the upper thigh
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 11th, 2009
I have Venus Statious in my legs, and the skin has become tough. The doctors said to use a regular skin moisturizer. I do notice that my legs above the knee arevery large & I just noticed a very hard areaon the inside of my upper thigh. Its very hard and the skin is very dry. Is this another condition because of my obesity & leg condition? Is this something I need to get looked at & treated right away? I am trying to loose the weight and I am slowly. I don't want to end up with gross looking legs when I am done. Please Advise~!

Skin Answer A5751

Current medical status: Morbid Obesity, Severe Arthritus in Both Knees bone on bone, venus statious, high BP, Dry flaking skin on lower legs.

The data about the hard area on the inside of your upper thigh is insufficient to give a correct diagnosis, at least without seeing it. However, an assumption can be made. Considering the fact that you are losing weight, you might be experiencing a stretch mark. If a doctor sees them, he would recognize them.

Another possible problem might be a skin inflammation. The skin should be red, itching, or burning. The inflammation might be caused by bacteria, but too much friction can cause it as well.

Consult your family physician for the correct diagnosis.
