I've recently been doing a lot of reading and have a pap smear coming up next week - the first in about 5 years. The last visit to the gynecologist I was told that I had HPV and there were some internal warts that were frozen off.

I don';t know how I've put another pap smear off for this long. ...Mostly because I was afraid of what might be found.

I'm experiencing a hard area in my abdomen when I lie down and sex is sometimes uncomfortable. Not exactly painful - just uncomfortable. In certain positions my cervix feels very noticeable and tender.

This hard area used to only be noticeable after sex - almost feels like my cervix is contracted. Now, I can feel it almost all the time when I am lying down on my back.

Has anyone ever experienced this symptom associated with cervical cancer? Its not painful - just... noticeably hard.

Where is that hard area located exactly?

Can you palpate it easily?
