Q: Hair Help!

Okay, so I am dead serious about cutting my hair now. My split ends have split ends. I really don't want to go too short, since I'd like to have some length to work with by this time next year. And anything too short above my shoulders makes me have a round moon face. I've included some pictures. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

From the Front

From the back (I swear that the area by the door handle isn't that grody in person.)

I am truly at a loss for what to do. My hair is uber-thick and pretty much unforgivingly straight. What you see in those pics is my hair after drying naturally, no flat iron, no blow dryer, that's just it. It is straight 100% of the time, so I really don't know what to do with it.

your hair looks gorgeous! i'm jealous that that's how it looks without putting any effort into it.

i'm not good at describing styles, but how about layers with side swept longish bangs? i'd cut off a good 5 inches, if that isn't too traumatizing!

hmm well see if you thin your hair at the back then you will lose the split ends but still keep the length you know that way where it looks like you have exstentions in. then feather it around the fringe so thats its not so square.

i had hair that long and layered mine and cut off about 6 inches or so, its just below my shoulder, my hair feels so much lighter!
maybe you should cut off a few inches and layer it or something like that.

I'm jealous too! To get my hair looking that good I have to spend ages drying & straightening it.

I have a round face as well.. in fact my grandpa actually used to call me "moon face".. such an affectionate nick name Laughing anyway, I think you should keep it long but just get the ends neatened up (something I desperately need to do with my own hair) & maybe have some layers put in it.

Your hair's a gorgeous colour by the way!

Thanks for the ideas everyone!

Zanny, my grandfather calls me "meat head." I think I'd prefer "moon face." And that's not my natural color. Clairol Natural Instincts Golden Espresso, lol. My natural color is a terribly mousy brown.

I found a pic of Jennifer Aniston that basically has the cut you're all talking about, so I think I;m going to take the plunge and just do it.

I'd suggest only trimming it by a couple inches and then cutting long layers through it to make it lighter and give it swing without losing the main length.
Maybe go for some shorter layers round the front to give it some movement.

But then again it looks good and healthy as it is.
