I am a 44 year old woman who went to the Dentist this week for a tooth out (tooth was hanging out) I was told I have advice Gum Disease. My Dentist as advised me to have my remainder teeth out and have Dentures fitted.

I havent slept for the last few night thinking about what to do.
Does anyone know if I can have implants fitted instead or is this a No cause of the Gum Disease? Can I have them fitted straight away as don't fancy going tooth less.

If not whats the best Dentures to get? Dentures do worry me as I do Karate and cant wear my Gum shield as this makes me wrench when its in. So cant see me managing with Dentures.

Thank You.

The requirement for implant is that you must have enough bone and good oral hygiene. Implant can fail (come out) if you didn't keep it cleaned.

Some dentist will do implant with temporary tooth on top immediately after pulling your tooth.

If you can't wear gum shied, it will be very difficult to wear denture as the denture is larger. Have you gone to the gum specialist (periodontist)for consultation to see if any of your teeth can be saved?
