Q: Groin redness

My boyfriend has red patches on both sides of his groin that he says are chronic jock itch, but they're not flaky or scaly or itchy...just looks like slightly raised large patches of red. He said whenever he actually uses hte cream he's supposed to it goes away so i think it is fungal but I dont think its jock itch. Also, I have been having many UTI problems since we started seeing each other so I'm wondering if the fungus could have gotten into my bladder? Thanks.

Tell him to use the freakin cream! And tell him to KEEP using it for two weeks after his symptoms are gone.

Yes, Jock itch is caused by a fungus... yeast. Jock itch is basically a male-yeast infection and, yes, if he doesn't treat it you can get it. I honestly don't know if it can lead to a bladder infection but I don't see why not.

I tend to get jock itch once a year or so and my symptoms are like your BFs. Raised red areas with occasional mild itching. My wife refuses to do ANYTHING with me until its been gone for at least a week. It can be stubborn.
