Q: groin gland

I had the right groin gland removed because it was a little swollen. This was done on 9/2/09. Its turns out that it was cancer free. In the meantime the area where it was removed is a hard big ball of I don,t know what. My surgeon thought that maybe I had some fliud in it, but when he inserted a niddle nothing came out but one or two small drops of blood. He said that there was nothing there to drain. He then told that it shoul go down in a week or so. Could I have developed a cyst in that area?
