I'm a 51 year old male. 6'0 and 188 lbs. Great shape, no serious medical history. Work out at least 5 days a week including 30 mins. weights 2x per week, 1 mile fast walk 4x per week, cycling 100 miles ( ) per month and other physical activities including 2 hr. cardio (fencing) 1x per week. No current medications, although was on Wellbutrin 300 mg. day for light depression. (I discontinued it recently). Very low sodium diet -- and otherwise healthy diet rich in potassium, garlic, etc. Blood tests show all levels of normal chem. panel OK. Had EKG and echocardiogram in the last 60 days and everything was excellent with no comments. No other cardio problems, i.e. dizziness, chest pain, etc. Pulse rate is generally 57-60 when resting.

I am trying to figure out why my blood pressure continues to be in the high 140's over mid 80's., and what I can do to lower it down 10-20 points. When I first take it (sitting after resting for 5 mins., it will often continue to drop to around 135 over lower 80's after additional readings, but I have rarely seen it go below that, only in the 120's over 70's on a couple of occasions. Any suggestions? I am a type A personality and somewhat hyper with a lot of energy, so I suspect a lower grade beta-blocker might be of help?

Thanks in advance.
