Question:

I experienced my first gout attack in 1976. I did not experience another until 2003, I am very grateful for the pain free years that I had. During these years I was not on any medications or special diets at all, period.

Then in 11/2003, the flares began in earnest. I have sought advice from numerous sources and I too have used every available gout drug available as prescibed by my physician, without much success. My physician has been very supportive as he is a gout sufferer as well. Then something happened that I do not totally understand; from 1/08 to 2/09, while not being medicated at all,and with no dietary changes, I stopped getting gout attacks completely. Can anyone explain why this would occur.

My 27 year remission was remarkable. Please note that the flares have returned with a vengeance. Thank You in advance for your help. It is greatly appreciated.
