Wow, it's been at least two weeks since I was attacked by gout in my right foot and for the first time I can walk (albeit with the light help of a cane) instead of having to use crutches!

I am jacked up on indomethacin (I'm feeling a little out of it right now) but I am pain free just sitting here. 24 hours ago it hurt to have my foot touching the floor.

At first I was given 500mg of naproxen 2 time s day but that didn't do crap. Then, three days ago I was switched to 50mg of indomethacin two times a day. It worked a bit but it took a long time to kick in (about 4 hours after taking a pill) and would run out about three hours before I was supposed to take another pill. So yesterday I upped my dosage to three times a day and that seems to have been the ticket!

I tried the baking soda trick all last week and while it seemed to help a bit it didn't knock it out. I started black cherry juice last night and it could be helping but I really think I feel better because of these pills. Who knows for sure.

What a pain in the arse gout is. It came on fairly suddenly (a soreness in the top of my foot that moved underneath and along the outer side over a period of two or three days. I wasn't sure what it was (I thought it was tendonitis). I started with two pills of OTC naproxen (220 mg) and that kind of helped at first but by the forth day I was using crutches. It started to get better around day 9 but then I had a relapse (who knows why) and it came back even worse that before. I couldn't even stand to have the bed sheet touch it. I put ice on it and took more baking soda and I made it through the night. That was a few days ago.

I truly hope that this is it. My dog wants to go for a walk and doesn't understand what the hell my problem is! Wink

When i got an attack i was taking indomethacin 3 times aday to try and dampen the pain. After a bad attack it took me 2 weeks before i could walk without a stick but i had to wear welling boots as it was the only foot wear that i could get into for about another week or so.
