Q: Google Ads in the Eating Disorders Forum

Is it possible to remove or change the google ads on this forum? They seem to be targeted at people with poor body image.. And yes, I know how google ads work, but in the interest of healthy, trigger-free recovery something really should be done about the ads.

Hi ltdan,

Can you be a little more specific? Which ads? Can you copy and paste the possible trigger ads into a new post, please (text only)? Are you speaking of the GLAM ads with the photos of women? I'm not sure which ads you mean and from a quick review, I don't identify any of the current ads as possible triggers for an eating disorder.

Thanks!

I don't know if this is a google ad but I assume, it's one of those ads in the first post of a topic in the corner, and it's an image, but it's just text, so I'll type the text.

5 TIPS TO GET A FLAT STOMACH
*Did you know that crunches & situps actually do NOT flatten your abs effectively?

*Did you know that there is a specific type of exercise that burns belly fat faster than cardio?

*Did you know that certain foods such as soy proteins, "diet" drinks, and others can actually increase your stomach fat?

Either way I think it's kind of like... offensive, and like, could be a trigger or even almost purging advice... I'm not sure I just want to watch out for people here, y'know?

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely bring this up to the advertising network. Thanks!

I checked with the advertising manager, and he verified that ads SHOULD only be related to treatment rather than triggers to eating disorders. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention.
