Q: Good and Bad News....But baby is ok....

Well, let me start off with the best news....I felt my baby move on Friday! Im only 17 weeks but I am pretty small so I have been feeling these "farts in my stomach kind of thing" lately. Maybe a couple times a day now. Its so thrilling. Now I can feel my belly and totally see it while laying down of course. Its like a little ball in there and its so cool....Its amazing and just makes me soo happy.

Well here is the bad news. Daniel (my hubby) had an accident while cooking with a gas grill. Fumes must have been lingering cause someone carelessly left it on and when he turned it and out the match to it the entire thing blew up in his face. He has 1st degree burns on his entire face and neck and forearms. He has no hair on his head, no lashes or eyebrows. His eyes have been swollen shut for the last couple of days. He looks like a horror movie character. But today they removed his lashes, which melted and fused his eyes together. So now he can see. His corneas are scratched and he will need to wear sunglasses for awhile. But he has NO PERMANENT damage. His face wont scar and all his hair will grow back. SO thank the lord for his blessing. It could have been very bad.

He will probably be able to come home today or tomorrow morning. Now more bad stuff. While I was in the ER with Daniel and while he was getting air vac'd to a burn unit in Phoenix (we live in mesa) someone stole our only car. Yes you heard right our car was stolen. SO here I am without a car and in another city. I cant get to him even if I wanted to. SO i have been taking the bus and borrowing friends cars to see him on my lunch breaks. It has been one hell of a roller coaster.

But we have great car insurance and have awesome family and friends so things are not as bad as they sound or as bad as they could be. Its just great that hes ok. I have had a hard time holding it all together. Im so emotional with this baby it has been hard. But its what I have to do. Im sure if he was very seriously burned I would have lost it, but hes ok and thats why I havent completly freaked out.

Wow Im not sure why it all happened at once but it did. SO hopefully our luck will look up for us. Thanks for reading!

Oh wow - what rotten luck you've had! I'm so glad to hear that your husband will be okay, I can only imagine how painful it must be for him though.

Your baby must be saying, "Don't worry mommy, it'll all be alright!"

Thanks for the kind words ladies! Its much appreciated. He came home last night and we were able to get a rental car until ours is found. No word on the car yet though. Hubby is doing good. Hes not in so much pain anymore and his eyes arent closed shut so he can see. He just looks scary. He would probably frighten a small child...poor baby.

Im soo happy hes home now. The baby is still moving about. Hey when will he be able to feel the baby? I can but its still hard to tell the difference between normal movements and the baby. I usually have to feel it happen a couple of times to know its the baby.

But I would have to be a little bigger right for him to feel?

awee, I'm sorry about what happened to your hubby.

If your husband pays really close attention he might feel something. My husband was always too impatient at the beginning. I'd put his hand on my belly and I'd point out all the movements and he'd just sit there and then get tired of trying to feel it and take his hand away. That's when I'd always get a big kick, haha. Now my belly moves all over the place so it's hard not to feel it.

Do the doctors think your husband's face will heal completely or do they think he'll have a bunch of scars? I hope he heals good. I have lots of burn scars on my arms from when I worked at a fast food place and got splashed with hot oil. They aren't too noticeable, but you can see them still.

Hes is expected to not scar as long as the burns dont scab really bad. So we need to keep it moist until hes completely healed. They said it could take up to 6 months for his skin to even be the same color. Some parts are white, red, brown, and yellow. SO they said his skin colors will be really splotchy. But the burns arent deep enough to leave long lasting scars. I hope this is what will happen. Hes really scared. He keeps telling me not to look at him and he wants to cover all the mirrors. It pains me for him to be scared. Hes a handsome man. But scars arent a big deal to me at least. I still love him the same.

awe. tell him not to mess with the scabs or they will scar. It's hard I know cuz they itch probly, but they'll probably heal pretty fast. He can wear a skin toner or something, like foundation. They do make it for guys and it's not easy to tell they are wearing make-up. It'll just even it out some. I think AVON has something for men like that

yeah...hes just so proud you know. I like that about him but sometimes he hurts his own self. Today hes doing much better. There are already some spots that are his normal skin again. And we have been making sure to keep it nice and wet. No scabs yet. His eyes are the worst though. He can drive now without too much trouble so thats a good sign.

they found our car. On Monday night I got the call. I guess someone was joy riding in it and then took it to a lake and burned it. The towing company said it was a shell of vehicle so it sounds like a total loss. Hopefully now the insurance company wont take there sweet time. We have a rental until the end of the month but thats it. Im just gla dthat they found it so soon.

Daniel's doing great. Only his eyes are still very sensitive to artificial light and sun (just about everything, LOL) He is expected to have his full eyesight by next week and then he can also go back to work.

We have decided to go on a weekend trip tp Payson in our rental van. We will just drive up north and explore. Maybe go shooting and fishing. The van is huge so we just lay mats in the back and sleep in there. This will be our trip together before baby. He works weekends so this will probably be our only time to go on a weekend trip. I am soo excited to go. We have never camped or gone on any trips with just the two of us. We are always with family or friends, so this will be a treat.

But other than that he and I are doing great. Oh yeah I had to have an abcess cut and removed from my leg last night. I am soooo tired right now. I have only had like 3 hours of sleep. But the lump was getting bigger abd bigger so the er just chopped it out. it hurts like hell though. They had to put packing in it cause it was so deep. And just think this just started on Like Sunday night! Well Im glad its out. I cant afford to be sick!

Well ladies thats all for now. Thanks for listening.
