Q: gonorrhea symptoms

2 days after receiving first unprotected oral sex, noticed a fairly small amount of yellowish discharge and a mild burning during urination (you could say the burning was more of a sensation than a pain). this lasted for only about a day and a half and now I have no symptoms whatsoever. its been 4-5 days with no symptoms and I don't know what it could be or could have been. this never happened before and I've never had any type of sex other than this one time.

Does gonorrhea normally display the symptoms up until you get treated or can it show up for a day or two and just go away? If I no longer have symptoms, is the gonorrhea gone or could it have been something else entirely?

Gonorrhea is a curable sexually transmitted disease but does not always cause symptoms, especially in women. The bacteria that cause gonorrhea can infect the genital tract, mouth or anus. A positive test indicates an active infection that requires treatment with a course of antibiotics. I'd suggest that you request a gonorrhea test from your gynecologist to be sure. Gonorrhea does not go away by itself.
