Q: Gonorrhea symptoms and unprotected sex
asked by: DoctorQuestion on November 11th, 2008
Does gonorrhea normally display the symptoms up until you get treated or can it show up for a day or two and just go away? If I no longer have symptoms, is the gonorrhea gone or could it have been something else entirely?

Sexually Transmitted Diseases Answer A4866
You wrote:” Current medical status: 2 days after receiving first unprotected oral sex, noticed a fairly small amount of yellowish discharge and a mild burning during urination (you could say the burning was more of a sensation than a pain). this lasted for only about a day and a half and now I have no symptoms whatsoever. its been 4-5 days with no symptoms and I don't know what it could be or could have been. this never happened before and I've never had any type of sex other than this one time.

According to the symptoms you describe (yellowish discharge, burning during urination) it seems that you may be experiencing cystitis. An STI (sexually transmitted infection) might have been transmitted during the intercourse. Gonorrhea can not be excluded at the moment because the symptoms of gonorrhea can appear 2-30 days after exposure. However, they do not go away if untreated. You might want to see urologist to request diagnostics tests for the range of STDs.
