Gliosis is a proliferation of astrocytes in damaged areas of the central nervous system (CNS). This proliferation usually leads to the formation of a glial scar.
Symptoms are decided by the location of the scar formation and area of the brain in which the gliosis is found to be located. For example if it is found in occipital lobe of the brain it may cause the vision impairement, the motor cortex may cause weakness, and if it is in the sensory cortex it may cause numbness and tingling.
