Glans Irritation
Posted: 12-18-05 09:10am

Approximately 2 years ago I had red itching on the glans of my penis. I treated it with canesten cream and although the itching stopped it left my glans very dry. It looked like pics I have seen of balanitis or candida.
I visited the doctor in jan this year and he prescribed lotriderm.
It took around 18 months following the initial onset for there to be any significant improvement in the appearance and it now looks much better but it remains very sensitive, causes me discomfort and it still makes me quite depressed.
I have tried all sorts of moisturisers, salt baths etc and the doctor now says not to put anything on it but I am worried it will go dry again and I will be back to square one.
Any ideas?

Itchy skin is usually very raw, and therefore is very sensitive and may cause dicomfort. There isn't much you can do about it until it goes away...

Although the red patches of imflamation have not returned it looks dry and scaly again without the moisturizer so I am not sure whether to leave it as my gp suggests and see if it improves or go back to moisturizing.
It is still sore too.
Feeling very confused.
