I have Gilbert's syndrome and my latest total bilirubin level is 3.5. And my Direct Bilirubin is 0.3. My doctor acted alarmed and said those numbers are very high but my other liver functions were normal and healthy. I really need to go on cholesterol lowering drugs (statins). Does anyone else here have Gilbert's syndrome and also take Cholesterol drugs like Zocor? thanks for reading my question.

Hello and thank you for your post on e health forum.

Since your other LFT s (Liver enzymes) are probably normal, a trial of statins can be prescribed by your doctor in case , your cholesterol levels are high and not responding to diet and lifestyle changes.

Regular monitoring with LFTs will help to titrate the dosage of the medications.

You might consult a hepatologist or a gastroenterologist who might do the needful for you.

I hope this helps.
