Today is the 27th. I was supposed to get my period a day or two ago but instead I've been getting this brown, chunky, sticky discharge with a weird odor. I'm not sure whether this is something to worry about or not and if I should call my doctor. Thanks.

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
The brown discharge that you describe before expected periods could be due to the uterine and endometrial changes in response to hormonal changes that occur before periods. Mild uterine contractions and endometrial separation can lead to spotting/discharge before periods and is considered to be normal. However, the foul smell associated could be due to possibility of infective causes. Wait and watch for your periods. Consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist for further evaluation and assistance. Drink plenty of water. Avoid vaginal douching, use of harsh soap or perfumes in the area. Avoid use of tight fitting clothes. Use loose cotton undergarments. If you are sexually active, and if infective cause is detected, get your partner also treated simultaneously to prevent re-infection.
Take care.
