getting pregnant after depo provera Posted: 07-30-08 06:47am
I have recently just had my 2nd depo
provera injection and me and my boyfriend
have decided that i won't have the next
one as we want to start a family. This
means i would have been on it for 6
months, how long will it take me to get
pregnant after being on it for 6 months?

Nobody can tell you. If you weren't on any
birth control at all, we still wouldn't be
able to tell you. The average healthy
couple can take up to a year to conceive.
You could get lucky and get pregnant your
very first month of trying, or it could
take a while. It's all a matter of timing
- you have sex around your fertile time,
the sperm has to meet the egg, travel
down, implant in your uterus before it's
reabsorbed by your body, and then it has
to hang in there. Some women miscarry
before they even know they were ever
pregnant. Sometimes the hormones don't
build quickly enough to stop your period,
and the egg is flushed out with your blood
and tissue.
So you see, it's not as easy as telling
you when it will happen. You'll just have
to be patient, wait for the depo to leave
your body, and then try. Good luck.
I found this quote on the FDA website
talking about getting pregnant after
depo...
Quote:
tr>
Most women find
that because it takes a while to return to
a normal menstrual cycle after they have
their last injection of DMPA, it can take
even longer to become pregnant. DMPA is
not a good contraceptive choice if you
want to become pregnant in the near future
- in the next 12 to 18 months. The number
of DMPA injections you have had in the
past does not seem to affect how long it
takes for you to become pregnant. If you
do not want to get pregnant when you stop
using DMPA, you need to use another form
of
contraception.
So, it may take a couple months to return
to the normal menstrual cycle. However,
since you were only on it for 6 months, I
can't imagine it would take a year to get
back on track.
I gave you the quote to show you it
doesn't keep you from having kids EVER,
but that it is just a matter of getting
your cycle regular again so you can plan
your pregnancy.
Good luck!

getting pregnant after depo provera Posted: 08-22-08 09:43am
I took my last depo in August 2006 after
being on it for 2 years and 3 months and
my periods are still not regular. There
were every 4 weeks for a few months, now I
have a full period and exactly 14 days
later I spot, 14 days later a full one
again. Me and my husband are desperate for
a baby and I am finding this very
stressful. It doesn't help that I seem to
be surrounded by pregnant ladies, most of
them by accident I may add! Anybody got
any advice? Has this happened to anyone
else? I just don't know when I am
ovulating and it is really getting me
down! I have been to the doctor who just
says, it takes longer with some women,
they have tested my hormone levels and
they have come back ok....

I was on depo for 8 months. and I am
pregnant. I still had a month of it left
in me while I was on it. It all depends
on yours & his body..

Extra periods after depo... Posted: 08-23-08 13:14pm
I am wondering if anybody else experienced
periods every 2 weeks after coming off the
depo...even after 2 years my body still
seems to be sorting itself out. I was very
regular before hand....
