I am 17 and really struggling with my depression. In the last month its got so much worse that i have had thoughts about suicide but deep down i know i would never do that but I still think about it alot of the time. It does run in my family my mum has had it and tried to commit suicide, my older brother has bi-polar and tried to kill himself and my two older sisters have had mild depression. Things from my childhood with my brother's violence, parents divorce, dad's neglect to later things like the attempted suicides in my family and the distince between my older brother and sisters now. For so long i've tried to bring them together but I am really struggling to come to terms with the fact that I cant make them do anything it has to be them that does the work but it really hurts. also theres my low confidence and really bad self-esteem. Ive also started bad sleeping habits some nights not getting any sleep at all not even 5 minutes and feeling crap the next day and staggering about Sad really need some advice on what to do im just scared people are going to say you're life is hardly anything to be depressed about...

Hey,

I can understand your problem. Please try to sleep, at least a bit. just take your time. Before you can help your family, you first gotta get yourself outta here. Suicide isn't funny. Don't let it get out of hand. About what people are saying, that's exactly the problem. They don't understand, but they care for you, don't want you to be unhappy, so they start saying such things. Yet if you know someone who really loves you, please talk to him/her. Talking helps, even if the people can't help you. You'd be amazed how many people are depressed. I know that doesn't help but, kay. Maybe it's hard for you, but it might be wise to find a therapist or so, a counselor, something like it. Gotta find a therapy, before it gets too late. Good luck, and try to see everything positive however bad it might be. Don't get ripped up.

love,
