I have had GERD for 13 years. I originally had food poisoning which opened up my lower esophagus forever. I was on prilosec and it worked great. Last June 08 I started to have the bad chest pain again. I switched to Nexium. Didn't help. I saw a new doctor and found out I have gastroparesis as well. My stomach is paralyzed and of course, they have no idea why. Doctor says surgery is a bad idea. I went on a liquid diet, still doing it, but still in pain. I then tried Reglan and got depressed. Went off of that saw another doctor and started on Protonix and saw a nutritionist. It worked but then I got bad yeast infections and bv that never went away from Protonix. It happens, but it is rare. Went off of Protonix recently, now on Previcid. Does not work, plus I still have the yi/bv problem, going through a second round of treatment. I got tested for STD's and everything. Does protonix and previcid have really similar chemical components? I know they have some in common but with different percentages, but if I get side effects from one, could the other cause the same side effects? Also, what other drugs can I try that would not cause these side effects and work. Please help!! I am uncomfortable, in pain everyday, and have had my sex life and running life affected.
