Q: genital warts transmission

I recently discovered I'd had genital warts for two or so years (no worries I got them from my first and hadn't had sex since). I'd never had health insurance/regular doctor appointments so I never knew what I had. I recently treated all of the warts but having them removed by my doctor with acid. according to my doctor my warts have to be caused by HPV but never confirmed it 100 percent since he said there's no test for HPV in men. My warts are gone and I'm on the verge of becoming sexually active again, at least If my condition permits. I want to know if I will transmit these warts via contact on the skin where they once were. I'm ready to begin a sexual relationship again but I don't want to transmit HPV or warts. Can someone please help me with some advice and insight for my situation?????

The primary goal of treating visible genital warts is the removal of the warts (not infection). Treatment possibly reduces, but does not eliminate, HPV infection. Whether the treatment results in a reduction in risk for transmission of HPV to sex partners is unclear.
The presence of genital warts is not an indication for HPV testing.

Were you practicing safe sex when you contracted the HPV infection?
