Hello, I am a male in his early 20s. I have recently (about a month or so ago) started to develop a number on what I take to be pimples on my inner thighs in the area of my penis and scrotum. I have between 15 and 20 on each side. They seem to be white heads and appear very quickly (usually wake up to find a new cluster of 3 some mornings). They are a bit painful and irritating. Now the ones that I developed first have yet to heal or go away, they are now red and some still contain the "white head" and some don't.
Also, around the same time I developed the same thing on my backside. These however are much larger, red and only a couple seemed to have the white head. I have between 8 - 10 on my backside, a couple on the cheeks but mostly clustered around the top on my crack (for lack of a better word).
I am a clean person, I shower every day and clean myself well. I am wondering if they is solely acne or something different. Any suggestion or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Also if this could be better answered in another forum please let me know.

i would get a dermatologist to check it out, the ones near ur penis and scrotum sounded like warts to me at first because they're in clusters and warts usually come in clusters and look like whiteheads sometimes, depending on how they form, and as far as i know there is no over the counter treatment for it and they don't just go away on its own. usually need a doc to give some drugs or another type of treatment. But then you mentioned the ones on ur back well that kind of threw me off because as far as i know, warts are spread by contact so if someone u slept with was all over ur back and stuff i'm not too sure how it could get there but if you haven't had sex before all this happens then it's probably not warts at all and possibly allergic reaction or just plain old acne. by the way if u had sex near the time when all this happened, ask ur partner if anything is going on with him/her.

I have been with the same partner for quite some time and well before this started. She does not seem to be experiencing the same thing so it seems to be just me.

Like most viruses HPV (human papilloma virus) can infect someone without that person knowing it, and can "set up shop" inside their body for many years before causing symptoms. In some lucky individuals, HPV is present in their tissues but never causes symptoms. HPV can also cause genital warts, which are usually small, wartlike growths that can develop anywhere on the female genital organs. Warts may develop in the vagina, on the labia (lips of the vagina), or around the anus. In men, warts may develop on the shaft of the penis, in the hair at the base of the penis, or on the "head" of the penis. Again, it is extremely important to remember that many, if not most, women who are infected with HPV will never develop genital warts or any other symptoms.

dermatologist trip
yup, get over the dr's office fear, and go into a simple dermatologist's office. They'll have you drop trou and check it out, no big deal they see guy's stuff all the time - they'll probably crack a joke to relax you a bit. Possible that this is HPV or genital warts. Your partner may show no signs, and you may get it, and transfer it. And if you've ever seen a pamphlet on the stuff, if not treated it can (in rare cases) grow to look like broccoli or cauliflower near your junk!

IF it is something like that, they'll likely freeze/burn it off (only hurts for a few minutes, not the end of the world) or use a razor/scalpel. Ok - the thought of a blade near your little man is terrifying, but it'll be over in a minute and dermatologists know what they're doing. It's important to get this checked out.

same problem
I have HPV but have never seen these pimple like things on the area of my groin. I was diagnosed about two years ago and now they are forming some have white heads some also do not. They are around the inner thigh and once they are poped take a while to heal and leave very noticable scars. Not sure what to do about it.
