Q: Gastritis and stomach pain
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 4th, 2009
I have been told that I have Gastritis. I have been told that the lower part of my stomach and the upper part of my small intestine is red and inflamed. They biopsied my stomach to find out what the underlying cause is and the biopsy came back negative for everything and they are telling me there is no underlying cause. I have severe pain in my stomach all the time and it worsens after I eat. The doctor tells me to take tylenol for the pain but it absolutely does not work. What else can I do for the pain? Is there anything I can do to repair my stomach? I need help and my doctors are not helping me I cannot keep living everyday in pain.

You might want to have a blood test for Helicobacter pylori. Helicobacter pylori is a bacterium that causes inflammation of the stomach. If confirmed, it is easily treated with medications. Taking medications that will reduce the gastric acid secretion might be helpful, too.
Please, have in mind that Helicobacter pylori usually appears when there is inadequate nutrition (skipping meals). If the nutrition pattern is not improved, then the condition might repeat with all its symptoms.
