I have know for about 2 years that i have a few stones, just recently I have been feeling alot of pain maybe about a 5 in my abdomen, it would come for while then go away and come back again. This started two days ago and up to this morning I woke up with that nagging pain today (May 22,2009) I am on a long trip to PA and will return May 25, 2009, should I be considering taking the stones out? and can I just take the stone out and not my gallbladder especially if its not infected? I know gallstones can be very dangerous healthwise but at what point should I worry? and will I have warning signs?

Thanks in advance for your reply and I look forward to hearing back from you.

If you have documented gallstone disease and you are having significant attacks of right upper abdominal pain despite a low fat diet, then you should have surgery. Because ore gallstones can form later if the gallbladder is left intact, the standard treatment of symptomatic gallstones is to remove both the gallbladder and the gallstones.
