Q: Gallstones diet?

I recently found out over the weekend that I have gallstones. I am only 24 years old and am very scared over the discovery of these stones. I was told to wait to speak to a primary doctor to get a refferal to a surgeon to have it removed. In the mean time I really want to know what I can eat? I know online it says fruits and veggies, whole grains and foods high in fiber. But what about drinks? meats? cheese and dairy products?

Stay on a low-fat diet for now. If you are having significant symptoms from your gallstones, even on a low-fat diet, then you will, indeed, require the services of a surgeon. (More than 1 million operations are done every year in the U.S. for gallstone disease, making it the most commonly performed elective abdominal surgery.)
