Gallbladder surgery results Posted: 04-14-08 14:50pm
A couple of weeks ago I was desperate for
a positive post about gallbladder surgery.
I was petrified and reading some of the
posts on here did not alleviate any of my
fear.
Here's a positive post! I had my
gallbladder removed at the end of the
March. So far so good. My scars are
healing nicely and my bellybutton wound is
almost healed...just itching a bit from
the glue they used and the healing
process.
I had an easier time of it than I was
expecting. Eating wise, I craved ice
cream and pudding. Anything cold and
sweet. I try to stay away from fried
foods and heavy stuff. I've lost 12 lbs!
Wooo Hooo.
I saw my surgeon last Monday (10 days
after surgery) and he says I can do
whatever I want now. Just listen to my
body and if it hurts, stop. (Logical!)
The only issue I've come across is today.
I ate taco bell for lunch which is
probably the worst I've eaten since I've
had this done. It hurts now. It's
burning a bit where my gallbladder used to
be. That's pretty minor to me, though.
Anyways, for those of you who are
nervous...the worst part is the
anticipation of the surgery itself. That
was horrible. I was petrified and had to
sit in the waiting room for 2 hours
holding a beeper and waiting to go into
surgery. Once they got me under it was a
piece of cake.
The healing process was pretty easy. It
hurt but I was able to get up and move
around that very night. Each day I felt
better and better.
My surgeon was awesome and it happened
exactly how he promised it would.
